The black and white video is a self-portrait of the artist. First she makes some breath exercises, and then she sings the lyrics of ‘Jesus Loves Me’
by the Coco Rosie group, listening to it by headphones. The girl seems to be innocent, but the lyrics contradict it. She sings that Jesus loves her,
but he does not love ‘her Negro friends and their Negro life’. The God’s affection seems to be reserved. During the film the face and the voice of an
artist are being deformed, as if she were a kind of monster. The viewer does not know however, if it is a punishment for blasphemy or her real image,
which was hidden under the mask.
The video got the honorable mention in Samsung Art Master competition in 2006 and was exhibited in the Contemporary Art Center Ujazdowski Castle.
