Lighthouse is one of the signature works from the late 1980s / early 1990s.
In this film, Ivekovic reacted
to the impact of the Yugoslav Wars. Within the structure of a personal diary, the artist confronts images of
her private life, in particular the birth of her daughter, with documentary footage from the national TV network
depicting the outbreak of the war in former Yugoslavia.
The work becomes an impressive montage in which the
narrative of the private counterpoints the epic dimensions of public events challenging and destroying the identity
of a multi-facetted nation.
